Valentine Fun for Adults, Families at BioPark
Tours highlight the love lives of birds, beasts, bugs, and even fish.
Celebrate love on Saturday, Feb. 11, with your darling dearest or a whole family of valentines at the BioPark.
On Saturday, visitors can take unique adults-only tours or visit family-friendly discovery stations at the Zoo, Aquarium and Botanic Garden. The Shark Reef Café will offer a Valentine's Brunch on Sunday, Feb. 12.
"We have something for visitors of all ages when we celebrate Valentine's Day at the BioPark," said BioPark Education Curator Kathryn Venzor. "Our afternoon Adults-Only tours are more interesting and more revealing than ever."
Adults-only Tours
The action starts at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11. Visitors can purchase tickets at the BioPark the day of the event; please call (505) 848-7180. Tickets are $10 for each tour and include Zoo or Aquarium/Botanic Garden admission.
Sorry kids, these affairs are for adults only (18 and older).
The Birds and the Beasts at the Zoo
Our resident experts will divulge the details of the exotic and often curious romantic rituals of animals. Learn about the life-long romances of condors and cranes, intriguing mating habits of primates, and what goes on in the breeding world of reptiles.
Meet at 1:50 p.m. at Zoo entrance.
That's A Moray at the Aquarium
Experience fish singing love songs. Discover how male seahorses get pregnant. Learn why in some species, the girls turn into boys, and the boys turn into supermales. Join the Aquarium's Curator of Fishes, Rich Learner, to find out why everything is hotter under the water!

Love Bugs at the Botanic Garden
Enter the bizarre world of arthropod affections in this behind-the-scenes tour of the BUGarium Rearing Laboratory at the Garden. Entomologist Dr. Ralph Charlton will expose the surprising reproductive tactics of insects and arachnids. Learn about the nuptial gifts given by scorpion flies, the jealous nature of damselflies and the dangerous liaisons of tarantulas and mantids-males are fortunate to find a mate and survive.

Family-Friendly Activities
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, visit discovery stations where topics will be tailored to your loved one's age and maturity. Learn how the Zoo acts as a "matchmaker" for endangered species like elephants through the Species Survival Program. Find out which fish sing love songs at the Aquarium and discover how pollinators help plants have a fairytale ending at the Garden.
Valentine's Day discovery stations are included with regular admission.
Shark Reef Cafe Brunch
Treat your sweetheart to a special brunch at the Aquarium on Sunday Feb. 12 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. With Shark Tank views and an amazing menu, this Valentine's Day brunch is a great start to an unforgettable date! The menu will feature fresh fruit, cooked-to-order omelets, honey-glazed ham, spicy roast beef, A full menu is available online.
