Description
Hints of spring come to the stage of the KiMo Theater February 4 at 6 p.m., as The Figueroa Project Chamber Orchestra is joined by world-renowned flutist Carol Wincenc of New York. She will highlight "Vivaldi's Concerto for flute and strings, Il Gardellino (The Goldfinch) in a program that also includes selections by Grieg, Doppler, Barber, Debussy and Dinicu, all composers from the transition period between the 19th and 20th centuries. The goldfinch is a little bird, most of whose cousins go south for the winter. But, according to eBirds website, the American goldfinch frequently stays put through the winter in some of its range -- including New Mexico. So, like this little yellow and black bird, The Figueroa Project will bring a musical harbinger of spring to the KiMo Feb. 4. Ms Wincenc will be joined by Albuquerque’s own virtuoso flutist Valerie Potter in Doppler’s Andante and Rondo in C Major for two flutes and strings, Op. 25 – more music to encourage fond anticipation of spring.
Music & Wine:
The Casa Rondena Winery will pour their award-winning wines in specially designed commemorative glasses that patrons can take home.
